Matching numbers early ’67 SWB coupe.
This 911 can be enjoyed as it is or brought to a higher level with some straightforward work. Very seldom do we see these which have not been apart and restored, or feature so many original details. Although repainted 27 years ago in the current colour, it could easily go back to the original Slate grey. Significantly, it had one owner for about 25 years, and he gives an interesting account of his 911 that supports the originality.
The body has good panel gaps, (the panels look to be original). It has the correct 3 screw door frames, glass, lenses and looks like original brightwork. The hard to get details on this long term owner car are very good. The wheels are all dated 1966 with the wire clips supporting the valves in place. The clocks and lovely wood rim steering wheel also appear to be original. The motor is numbers matching, performs well, idles cleanly and goes very well with a great sounding and rare Bursch exhaust. There have been some limited repairs to the underside, none of which cause any major concerns.

Originally supplied in February 1967 by Porsche Cars Pacific, Burlingame, California, it was optioned in Slate grey (6601) with black leatherette and chromed wheels.
This 911 has spent it’s life in the US and Canada, it has only recently arrived in the UK from Texas.
It was owned for a while by Mike de Jonge, the owner of Restoration Design, Ontario, who have been producing Porsche parts for almost 30 years.
Previous to that, it was with the same keeper for approximately 24 years. Living in California, he used the 911 as a daily driver for a couple of years to commute from home to the Naval Air base where he was stationed. He kept on top of all the maintenance needs, working on the car himself and when needed, with local specialists.
When he moved to Canada, he drove the 911 the 2,500+ miles across the USA without a hitch and after that, kept the car more for weekend use and special occasions. In approximately 1993, the paintwork was addressed – the original Slate grey bodywork had been over-painted with dark brown and then white, but the owner chose, after stripping back to bare metal, to go with Irish green, a period colour he had always admired. The seats and dashboard were also recovered at this time. The clutch was replaced in the early 2000’s.
Easy to bring to the next level or enjoy it as she is, a good Grade 3 classic Porsche.
