Porsche 968 manual coupe 1992

92,648 miles

A secret few people know about…..

A Porsche which is rarely seen, exceptionally well engineered with a beautifully balanced chassis (engine up front, gearbox to the rear) and a smooth 3.0 litre inline 4. The result is a rewarding experience for keen drivers.

Manufactured in relatively small numbers between 1992 to 1995 and replacing the popular 944 model, this is the Porsche 968.

Featuring many technical firsts and upgrades; fitted with the first Porsche engines with Variocam valve timing (which evolved in later life to feature on the air-cooled 993 motors), optimized exhaust systems, 6 speed manual transmission, dual mass flywheel and progressive ECU management, plus streamlined good looks and updated interiors and equipment.

This particular 968 was supplied in October 1992 by Official Porsche Dealer Dick Lovett to the first of just 4 owners.

Striking Cobalt blue metallic with sunroof/removeable panel and newly refurbished 16″ Cup Design alloy wheels.

The interior is finished in Classic grey with ‘Z’ order blue piping for the electrically adjustable Sports seats. All still looking fresh and in really good order.

Leather Sports steering wheel, folding 50/50 rear seat and rear wiper. The Kenwood radio/cassette has been updated to a newer CD player (although not shown in the photographs or video)

Benefiting from a long service history (now on the second service book with a total of 19 stamps) with regular cambelt changes.

Williams Crawford have cared for this 968 since 2018 (the last 5,300 miles) and in that time we have carried out 3 services plus a recent cambelt change (September 2021, 830 miles ago) Other general maintenance within the last couple of months includes various new seals, a new radiator, refurbished steering rack and an updated Kenwood head unit.

The car is accompanied by a folder of invoices, receipts and MOT certificates plus original spare wheel, compressor and tool roll.

We rate this classic highly; it’s a very strong Condition Grade 3, although considering its history, maintenance, low ownership and great condition, it’s maybe even a Grade 4; a great driver’s Porsche which is ready to use and enjoy without worry for the immediate future.

Few 968 were manufactured and only a handful now remain, this is a rare opportunity to own an unusual classic Porsche. We cannot remember the last time we had one to offer, or indeed do we know when we will see another, especially as nice as this one is.
