The Spyder is, in effect, a drop-top GT4. It shares the same 4 litre, naturally aspirated 6 cylinder making 414 bhp, the same chassis, suspension, steering and brakes, and the same 6 speed manual gearbox (complete with the choice of auto blips on the downshift!).
Unlike its Boxster brothers, the Spyder’s roof requires some manual effort to drop and then raise again, but it’s fully worth it for the resulting driving experience.
In the words of Porsche themselves:
The 718 Spyder is an exclamation mark in a world full of ‘what ifs’. A roadster like no other. Without compromise. Without regrets. Without rational arguments.
