Porsche 986 Boxster S manual 2001

Recent IMS bearing upgrade and major maintenance.

This great Boxster has seen much investment in the last 12 months or so.

Of significance for the next owner is the upgrade of the IMS bearing. Installed here in the Williams Crawford workshop along with a new rear crankshaft seal. This improvement was accompanied by a full service, which included new spark plugs (and tubes), a brake fluid change and drive belt replacement (1,000 miles ago).

We also renewed various suspension items and carried out a 4 wheel alignment.

A new hood with the upgraded glass rear window was fitted in February 2022.

With 12 service stamps in the book, and a folder of invoices and MOT certificates, this Boxster has been well maintained throughout its life.

Supplied in June 2001 by Swindon OPC, Dick Lovett Ltd, it left the factory with a great specification

• Lapis blue metallic with a Metropole (dark) blue hood.
• 17 inch Boxster S alloy wheels.
• Extended leather interior in Graphite grey with black trim.
• Sports seats.
• Air conditioning.

The factory Porsche CDR 22 CD/radio has been updated with a Continental CD/radio/USB/MP3/WMA unit.

Exciting performance comes from the 3.2 litre 6 cylinder, positioned directly behind the seats, driving the rear wheels via a 6 speed manual gearbox.

With exceptional balance and handling, these 986 are fun and rewarding to drive.
