Is it right to modify Porsche?

As a youngster, modifying my car was the norm. I wanted it to go faster, handle better, stop better, and look cool. Making your car your own is something most of us do. Even if it’s a personal plate or a decal, it’s nice to say, ‘that’s mine’. Different to others.

But should a Porsche be modified or changed? If we were discussing a Ferrari, the answer is almost always that the original spec, and colours, are ‘best’. However, Porsche have always been different.

From the very earliest days Porsche were modified, Both technically and cosmetically. The factory actually supported it. Probably Porsche activities with Motorsport meant that modifications and changes were the norm.

I recall an early 356 we handled, the original colour was white, but the first owner wanted it the same blue as her husband’s shipping company livery. Therefore, that’s the colour it was delivered in brand new, repainted in the Factory, post production from white to blue.

Since then, there have been hundreds of factory modified Porsche pass through our hands.
So yes, modifying Porsche, making it your own is entirely acceptable. It’s part of the beauty of this marque.

In today’s video I can show you four different heavily modified Porsche that are all on sale in our showroom, in fact all were rebuilt specifically to the individual’s taste.

The first of our ‘modified’ beauties to be seen on camera is a 964 Targa, this one we rebuilt from bumper to bumper with the owner choosing the way it was to be, it makes a statement.

The second is the red 911 SC that does the opposite, it’s subtle, you have to look hard to see what’s changed. It’s lighter and faster. No frills just action. Think vintage GT3.

The third is a light yellow 911 Targa, this one hides behind the facade of a 72 911S. It holds many secrets and was built to be better developed than the original, that it portrays. To handle better, go faster, be more comfortable, and display a high quality.

Lastly the Ivory white 911. Whilst a ‘Singer’ shares these broad aesthetics, this one is the real thing. Built from a 2.5 ST specification race car, it remains a race car at heart with a few creature comforts to make it usable on the road.

Four very different Porsche each with their own style and taste.

The work we are able to do here ranges from partial repair and restoration, through to the creation of what could be a ‘new’ factory correct machine, or one that is to your individual specifications. Graham and Lilly are your contacts in our restoration and Special Request Department. Our answer is almost always YES.

Ross and Andy are here should you be interested in any of our sales cars, they can talk to you about tailored funding, making these machines more affordable in order you can enjoy them today.
