Autumn Review
Lots of new developments and observations regarding the market.
One thing about Porsche, as a company, is their quest for continuous improvement, and that’s the same here. There are improvements every day, some tiny, some major. We believe that is the philosophy which makes such a good product and such a great working environment here. Our business is only as good as our team; it is their attitude that sets the tone throughout our business.
Taking on a big responsibility is young Harry, he is stepping up to the role of Sales Administrator. Well done Harry! This allows Beth to become part of our Sales Team, helping make customers’ dreams of Porsche ownership come true; all under the watchful and experienced eyes of Andy and Ross.
Ross meanwhile has stepped up to manage the sales team, although you will still find him on the shop floor and on the end of the phone. Front of house, Lilly joins Leanne on main reception; they are the first people you see when you walk through the door.
Mark has been a technician with us for a long time, and he has stepped into the role of Workshop Co-ordinator, allowing Richard M to act as Service Manager. Meanwhile Dean fulfils a concierge role. He is the chap that will park your car, help you with your loan car, and clean yours after service.
We have made improvements to our technology; we are very proud of the fact we are one of the very few independent specialists in the UK authorised to connect to the factory via PPN (Porsche Partner Network). All these changes raise the standard.
That brings us to our Market Review…
We have always endeavoured to rise above the norm and that seems to have worked. Whilst we read reports of doom and gloom, ‘cars aren’t selling’ or ‘it’s a buyers’ market’, we have found the opposite. But why?
It’s a fact that markets have become more sophisticated, more demanding over time. Many dealers are in the dark ages, only thinking about the short term. Other buying channels, such as private sales and auctions, are unable to meet new market expectations.
People are much more savvy than ever, wanting the security of dealing with a known entity, feeling that they can trust the seller, and a quick Google search soon highlights the sites with little substance.
Buyers are looking for transparency, an honest appraisal of what they are really buying. What maintenance is included? Do the modern Porsche have up-to-the-minute diagnostic reports? And what about expert guidance on the classics?
They also want to know about ongoing support and warranty, part exchange, delivery, plus different funding advice and options. Quite a proportion of our customers will gather all this information and purchase over the phone, having their car delivered. The days of buying off the street from Autotrader are all but gone.
Our situation is that we have found the market has moved towards us rather than away. So, we are optimistic; we continue to sell, buy, consign with enthusiasm.
It makes this business a great place to be, we hope you too will enjoy it.
