Nothing Ordinary
For this Walkabout Wednesday Adrian and Harry dig into detail around the business.
After all, a Porsche, and Porsche engineering is all about the detail, in fact success in anything is always about the detail. Here we attempt to show and tell, the bits one rarely gets to see. Our tour takes you into the world of motorsport, mechanics, and special builds.
The GT4 race car comes first. Porsche is inextricably linked to Motorsport, it’s how they have developed the engineering over decades, and from the earliest years one could in fact purchase from Porsche a car suitable to be used directly for competition purposes.
Since then, things have got a lot more sophisticated, and so, enter their GT4 Cayman. It’s not a converted road car, it’s built by Porsche motorsport for one use, racing. As such it has a higher level of technical sophistication, and the diagnostics are typically only accessible by Porsche Motorsport. Regular Porsche Centres cannot access the car in full.
Our customer had some issues, and we love to help and love a challenge. Our guys did brilliantly, and the video explains.
Then we took a look in the showroom, and Adrian’s focus landed on a G series classic 911 that was built for a client. It’s really a forerunner to a GT3…much more special in detail than a quick glance would ascertain, so naturally we looked around it. A glance under the engine cover revealed its secrets, and a look at the interior demonstrates the craftsmanship.
Peeking behind the scenes in the workshop shows some more technical cleverness that we can offer. The flexibility of independence allows us to find solutions that may be more economic, stronger, or better performing than the rigid rules of a manufacturer-controlled workshop.
Here Harry and Adrian are guided through a repair to a PDK transmission by Jack, and a common upgrade to many water-cooled Boxster Cayman and 911 models…the IMS upgrade explained by Luke …the intermediate shaft. Many have heard of the IMS, but in this video, we show what it actually is, and how it fits into the function of the car.
This represents just a fraction of the scope of our skills, which we love to show.
Whatever the question, in almost any era or model, the most likely answer is yes, we can help.
Watch out soon for a new announcement that will make purchasing a fabulous Porsche easier than ever before.
