With a full charge the 330e can travel on electric power for around 25 miles and at speeds of up to 50mph. If you choose to go further or faster, the petrol engine joins in seamlessly to provide additional power. During braking, kinetic energy is turned into electrical energy, which is then fed to the high-voltage battery.

The battery can be charged from a household mains socket, or from the addition of a BMW iWallbox, with full capacity achieved after 2-3 hours.

The eDrive button, located next to the gear selector, allows driver to choose between 3 different electric modes. Battery Save to retain electricity for low-speed city driving or low-emission zones, Max eDrive when you want to force the car to run as much as possible on electric power alone, and Auto when you want the car to control the combination.
