Overview

A tried and tested recipe for a pure and thrilling drive.

The concept of combining a sorted chassis, lightweight bodywork and a lively engine has proved highly successful; from Colin Chapman’s 1950’s Lotus designs, through to the 1970’s, when Caterham took command, right up to the present day and on into the future.

If you enjoy the simple things in life, this Caterham Seven makes a great choice.

Current specification includes:

  • Recently refreshed K-Series Supersport upgrade:1.4 litre 4 cylinder making approximately 130 bhp.
  • 5 speed Ford Type 9 gearbox (recent new seals).
  • Helix uprated clutch.
  • Ford Sierra rear differential (recent new seals).
  • 16 inch HPC alloy wheels with Yokohama tyres.
  • Uprated cooling hoses and compact cooling fan.
  • Cycle style wings.
  • Upgraded ‘Caged’ roll over bar.
  • Caterham 4-point harnesses.
  • Momo quick-release steering wheel.
  • Heated screen.
  • Wet weather doors, roof (with bag), tonneau cover, plus perspex deflectors and indoor car cover.
  • 2 keys, immobiliser and locking fuel cap.

With the same owner since 2007, maintained to a meticulous standard regardless of mileage. Recent maintenance (August 2024) includes a new cam belt, water pump, head gasket, spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor arm.

Information acquired from the Caterham Cars factory archivist suggests it is highly likely that this is the 1400K launch car, originally shown at the Docklands launch event in July 1991. The chassis number indicates it was the first factory-built Caterham to receive the K Series engine. It may also be the car featured in Chris Rees’ ‘Magnificent Seven’ book……..

First registered in August 1991 their records suggest it was sold to a French resident in November 1992, before returning to Caterham for a ‘Supersport’ upgrade and resale in late 1996.

Further changes, including the cycle style wings, quick release steering wheel and harnesses, plus a new keeper, came in 2001.

Ready to enjoy, this tiny car delivers huge smiles.
