This one is a step closer again. Think of it as a Cayman R ‘RS’, and you will get the picture.
This Cayman R started life in its most pure form, closest to the original concept, which was making a faster, more nimble Cayman.
Just like the iconic 911 2.7 RS of 1973, the 964 RS of 1992, and all RS variants since, less is more. Faster, lighter, more agile, more precision..
Porsche achieved this by decreasing weight and increasing performance. It was equipped with the gorgeous (lighter) 918 bucket seat option, without the weight of a radio, or AC, and with the lightweight PCCB brakes.
After all, this example was the original press car promoting these proven virtues.
During its more recent life, a small fortune has been invested in this car by a very exacting owner. It is now even sharper than ever before. More RS like than ever.
All the responses have been honed. The suspension features components from the GT3, the PCCB ceramic brakes give relentless stopping power, and significantly less unsprung weight, it has lighter Spyder wheels.
Horsepower has risen from the original 330 with remapping, larger throttle body and plenum plus Carnewall headers, also the lightweight flywheel and tighter transmission mounts add to the precision and sharper response
This Cayman R ‘RS’ is truly a one off. Totally immaculate, outstanding history and level of maintenance care, with the interesting back story of being built for the press launch, and can be found on video and in print.
