Porsche 718 Cayman GTS (4.0) PDK 2023

Now Porsche has stopped building them, cars like this matter more.

When the order books for petrol-powered 718 models closed in 2025, the significance of these naturally aspirated cars only grew stronger.

You can’t buy a new 718 Cayman GTS (4.0) – but you can have this one.

Supplied new by OPC Exeter in March 2023, it returned to them for its first service in 2025.

The ‘standard’ specification on a GTS is far from sparse, but this example benefits from a considered list of extras that elevate it further.

Iconic Guards red with a SportDesign Package, rear wing, door handles plus side window and door mirror trims all finished in gloss black. A substantial amount of PPF has been applied, predominantly to the front end but extending beyond.

The theme continues with factory black 20 inch Sport alloy wheels – the perfect contrast to the red brake calipers – alongside the Sports exhaust system with black tailpipes, tinted rear lights, and a full set of gloss black front and side air intake Zunsport grilles.

It sits 10mm lower on PASM and benefits from PTV (with a mechanically locking rear differential), Power steering Plus, cruise control, Sport Chrono Package and ParkAssist with a reversing camera.

Inside, black leather replaces the standard Race-Tex/Alcantara on the heated Sports seats Plus – the Porsche crest embossed on each headrest – and Guards red seat belts add a pop of colour. The heated GT Sports steering wheel features PDK paddles and driving mode switch.

PCM with voice control provides DAB digital radio, navigation, mobile phone preparation and audio interfaces, plus Apple CarPlay, all complemented by a BOSE Surround Sound system.

There is preparation for dashcam installation and security is further enhanced with PVTS Plus, 2 keys, book pack, service book and manuals, plus warranty.

The much-celebrated naturally aspirated 4.0 litre flat 6 produces 395 hp and drives the rear wheels via the 7 speed PDK transmission, equating to real world figures of 182 mph top speed and 0-62 mph in 4.5 seconds. And whilst the headline figures closely mirror those from the previous 2.5 litre turbo charged 4 cylinder version, the delivery is entirely different – trading turbocharged urgency for a more progressive performance that rewards you all the way to the redline.

This really is a genuinely rewarding car to drive.
