Porsche 911 3.0 SC manual LHD Targa 1981

An exceptionally original Targa in a very rare period colour.

It looks amazing, the Rosewood (Palisander in Europe) metallic (code 474) was offered for just two years. This 911 also has the original 16″ Fuchs with factory optioned ‘matching wheel centres’. The beauty with this is that it is so original; very early 80’s and extremely scarce like this, especially with a known history.

The interior features the extended leather, full beige leather for the seats and door trims with dark brown for the dashboard and rear shelf along with the original good condition beige carpets. Additional options are the spoiler package with rare Turbo type rear spoiler, air conditioning (working) and front driving lamps. Even the radio and electric Hershman Antenna we think, are the original.

Delivered new by Southpoint Porsche in Texas on the 2nd April 1981, it spent the first 14 years of its life in the Houston area before being imported to the UK in 1995 with approximately 70,000 miles. The same family kept it a further 17 years, covering just 3,000 miles more until we purchased it in 2013. At that point, we had an exceptionally nice original example, to which we gave a major service, including new clutch, air box, pop off valve, injector seal, new vacuum pipes, fuel accumulator, plug leads, rear shock absorbers, Euro headlamps, Targa roof seals, webbing and cover, synchromesh and much more. This is a 911 which has enjoyed trips across Europe with reliability.

Since then, for the last 9 years, we have continued to look after it. The most recent service with us (including spark plugs) was carried out less than 400 miles ago. We also renewed the exhaust silencer, both heat exchangers, CDI box and 4 tyres.

Upon close inspection, it appears every bit as good as we recalled years ago. The panels appear to be original with no sign of accident repair and the underside is clean without welding.
