Overview
With the same owner for 19 years, this is a low mileage 964 with air conditioning.
Purchased in 2003 by a Brit who subsequently retired to the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in central France. The 964 made regular trips back to the UK for MOT testing, and servicing with the same independent Porsche specialists.
This is a Porsche which has proven itself as a great continental tourer, and has the distinction of being a very original example. With its correct Design 90 alloys, flag mirrors, along with the tool roll, jack, spare wheel and compressor.
Turn your attention to the interior, the pale grey leather is in astonishingly fine fettle; the carpets, trim, switch gear and instruments are all excellent. It’s a lovely place to spend your time.
First delivered in June 1991 by the Jersey Official Porsche Centre, Five Oaks Garage, optioned in Slate grey metallic.
Electrically adjustable front seats (8-way for the driver, 4-way for the passenger), plus air conditioning, electric tilt and slide sunroof, on board computer and rear wiper.
Judging by the mileage, condition and the history file, this is a 964 which has lived a gentle life. Notably straight, with good panel gaps. No evidence of the usual screen repairs, only a slight lifting of the paint on the driver’s side scuttle. The alloys appear in their original, un-refurbished condition.
Carefully documented within the history is a recent, significant investment which included, amongst other things, an engine overhaul, full service, new brakes and Michelin Pilot Sport tyres all round.
We have been servicing and selling 964 for 30+ years, and are more than happy to discuss this one in detail with you; or indeed, you can arrange your own independent inspection. Supplied with our own warranty on the engine and transmission.
Pink elephants are often imagined, but no more likely seen than a perfect 964. This though, is a tangible rarity: a smart, authentic and well cared for example, ready to enjoy for many more years to come.
To Tiptronic or Not…
There is good reason why Porsche made a Tiptronic, and a reason why they sold in large numbers.
It makes for such a nice combination, with the easy power of the 3.6 and the smooth adaptive transmission.
For cruising and touring it’s a great choice. Effortless performance and relaxed in town and tight spots.
If your goal is to extract maximum performance from your classic, then the manual provides that, though the Tiptronic, once understood, can still perform really well. In fact, during initial tests with the public, it was found that 8 out of 10 drivers were faster with the Tip…….
Admittedly, it’s not the top choice for track day heroes, but how many of us wish to race around in our cherished classic Porsche?
Better maybe to have a 911 that is relaxing, that you can enjoy at a sensible pace.
Tiptronic tranmissions are generally super reliable, and they should not to be overlooked if you’re aims are to enjoy gentle, stress free, stylish motoring.
