Quality 986 Boxster are carving out their rightful place as true ‘modern classics’; factor in a limited production run for additional desirability, and you have a winning combination.

When the iconic race-winning 550 Spyder of the 1950’s celebrated its 50th birthday, Porsche paid tribute with a special 986 Boxster S model.

This 3-owner example is one of the suggested 150 or so produced in RHD for the UK market.

All 1,953 were delivered in GT silver metallic, a colour previously exclusive to the Carrera GT Supercar.

There was a choice of two convertible roof colours and two extended leather interiors; this one has a black hood and the Dark grey natural leather, the other option for both being Cocoa.

The 3.2 litre flat 6 also received a boost in power with 266 bhp and 310 Nm of torque, resulting in a top speed of 165 mph and a 0-62 mph sprint of 5.7 seconds.

Delivered in July 2004 by OPC Guildford, serviced 5 times by OPC Mid Sussex until 2010, shortly after which it changed keepers for the first time. The second owner had it serviced every two years, although these are not stamped in the service book.

Prior to changing hands to the most recent keeper in 2022, it received a major service with new spark plugs and a brake fluid change, followed by a further minor service in October 2024 at 54,631 miles.

Complete with double keys and a valet key, original book pack with service book and manuals, 6 months Williams Crawford warranty, plus additional ‘50 Years of 550 Spyder Anniversary Edition’ sub-brochure and price list. The cost when new in 2004? £42,200.

We have handled only two of these special Porsche in the last 10 years, they don’t come along very often. ‘First of’ or ‘Last of’ models always appeal; the Anniversary Edition cars were presented at the end of 986 production, benefiting from the highest levels of technical and equipment specification. This is surely one to keep.
