A 991.2 Targa 4 GTS is already a very special Porsche. Here, an exceptional selection of factory options creates something altogether more distinctive. The result is a 911 that is not only beautifully specified, but one you’re unlikely to find replicated elsewhere.

Blending thoroughly modern Porsche engineering with styling cues that pay homage to the past, the Targa remains one of the most desirable choices from the 911 line up.

The Crayon paintwork is enhanced by the optional SportDesign Package, introducing a more sculpted front apron and a distinctive ducktail-inspired rear spoiler. The theme continues with body coloured side skirts and rear apron, which surrounds the twin black tailpipes of the Sports exhaust system.

Satin black 20 inch centre lock Turbo S alloy wheels fill the arches perfectly, whilst the ride is 10mm lower via Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM).

Tinted LED main headlights incorporating Porsche Dynamic Light system (PDLS) and tinted rear lights add further contrast, as do the GTS decals on both doors and the simple black ‘PORSCHE’ script to the rear.

The iconic curved rear glass and black Targa roll bar pay tribute to one of Porsche’s greatest designs. At the touch of a button, however, tradition gives way to technology as the fully automated roof transforms the car from cosy coupe to open top grand tourer in a mesmerising choreographed sequence.

The red Targa roof offers the first clue to what awaits inside, where the standard GTS Alcantara gives way to opulent black and Bordeaux red leather, complemented by carbon fibre trim, a heated multi function leather GT Sport steering wheel and a centre armrest embossed with the Porsche crest.

Taking centre stage are the pair of heated carbon fibre-backed Sports Bucket seats. Trimmed in matching Bordeaux red leather and embossed with the Porsche crest, they combine exceptional support with everyday practicality, retaining folding backrests to preserve access to the rear seats.

Further equipment includes front and rear ParkAssist with reversing camera, automatically dimming mirrors, rain sensor and two-zone climate control. Porsche Communication Management (PCM) provides online navigation, voice control, Apple CarPlay, DAB digital radio, telephone connectivity and USB interface.

As impressive as its specification may be, it is the driving experience that really defines the GTS. The twin-turbocharged 3.0 litre flat 6 produces 450 hp, driving all four wheels through the 7 speed PDK transmission with Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus. Select Sport Plus and 62 mph arrives in just 3.7 seconds before continuing to a top speed of 190 mph.
