Porsche 993 (911) Targa Tiptronic S 1996

Some colours suit a 993. This one makes it.

Turquoise metallic was available on the 993 for the 1996 model year only, so finding one is not easy. It makes the already distinctive 911 Targa particularly hard to ignore, and with the additional Fuchs alloy wheels, this one really stands out.

And the colour is not the only thing that sets this Targa apart from others out there. The bodywork and paint are particularly good thanks to a complete refurbishment and repaint late in 2022 at a cost exceeding £22,500.

This Tiptronic S example was first registered in March 1996.

Whilst early history for this 993 is limited, the paperwork that does accompany the car documents significant and reassuring investment in recent years – exactly the sort of expenditure that matters on a classic Porsche.

At 77,000 miles this Targa received a major service from a well-respected independent specialist which included all filters, new spark plugs and a brake fluid change. It has since had a Tiptronic transmission oil and filter change here in the Williams Crawford workshop.

Another noticeable upgrade is the vintage-style Pioneer head unit. A Targa model has featured in the 911 line-up since 1967, but with the 993 Porsche introduced an entirely new take on its popular open-air variant. Instead of manually removing the roof section, an all-electric sliding glass panel brings the outside in – perfect for a sunny day. And when the weather’s not so great, close the roof and sunblind and you’re straight back into cosy coupe territory.
