Having been lucky enough to experience a broad range of sports cars I have to say that this is ‘out there’.

It’s not subtle. Finished in striking Shelby Blue with the big white stripe, you’re certainly going to be noticed. Turn the key and it’s obvious that this is not just a show pony. It’s a go racer.

The big V8 makes a very distinctive rumble and once on the move, it seems like whichever gear you select…it just goes.

Replica…doesn’t do this justice. The build quality, and the specification, is what separates the norm from the best.

Founded by ex-formula 1 engineer Chris Symons, Absolute Performance has quality control etched into its core. Since 2004, they have been producing cobra replicas to the absolute highest standard of engineering, and it shines through in every aspect of this build.

The cars were manufactured under ISO 9000/2000 recommendations, the strictest quality control standards of the time. To achieve this, they were meticulously documented, each individual part was subjected to a quality assessment, and build schedules were organised down to the hour. The entire operation was at a level that few low-production or replica cars could ever hope to achieve.

The files that come with this car back this up entirely. Included are original documents detailing dimensions, instrument controls, oil filter change intervals, suppliers, and even handwritten notes covering the paint codes. We even have copies of magazine features that show high praise for the car and the attention to detail shown by its manufacturer.

The spec?

Powered by a 5.7 Chevrolet V8 mated to a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission and a Jaguar LSD, this build was silky smooth to drive. It has all the theatre and emotion you’d expect from a Cobra replica, but thanks to buckets of torque and power-steering, it’s never more aggressive than you want it to be. You’ll find yourself being confident enough to really push it and get the most out of your favourite B-road, feeling way more agile than its looks indicate. It’s an addictive drive.

The body, supplied by AK Sports Cars, is said to be one of the highest calibre ‘Cobra’ recreations money can buy. It’s hard to disagree.

This is no Porsche…but it’s a raw driving experience, something that is if you like, a unique taste. The quality is something you can see for yourself in the flesh. The thrill per £ is something that you can experience.
