Talking Blue Smoke with Luke

Why would this 991.2 with low miles smoke?

Smoking, as we all know isn’t good for humans, and it’s not desirable for cars…. but why would such a lovely low mileage 991.2 smoke on start up?

The customer came to us, having noticed blue smoke from his 991.2. This would have the 3.0 flat six twin turbo engine. He looked after his car and it certainly would not be worn out.

Fortunately, we knew what to do and have the capability to do it.

What you see in the video is just how big a job it is…..although the problem is rare, it’s not unknown. We have some advantages.

Luke is a skilled technician that loves the big jobs, meanwhile we are one of very few Porsche independents in the UK that are bonafide PPN registered. PPN Porsche Partner Network allows us direct access to the Factory, giving technical help and information at a level that means we can look after the very latest Porsche. More on that later.

So what is the fault and our cure? In this instance a build-up of debris can affect the function of the turbo oil supply check valve.

To rectify, we remove the engine and pdk transmission, this gives the required access to the turbo plumbing. Once the engine is out, we replace the collection tank, intake pipes, and pressure lines and flush through the system as per the PPN recommendations.

It looks like a massive job, but for our team it’s just a normal day at the office. Whether classic or modern, our expert team can apply themselves to almost any issue.

More about PPN.

Need a new key? Or one of the control modules (computers) require replacement, PPN gives us the ability to program the latest cars and do the software updates. We can also access technical bulletins and help direct from Stuttgart.

We are here to help, whatever the Porsche, whatever the request the answer is almost always yes. Speak to Leanne or Lilly on service reception.
