The most important part of selling cars…the buying!

It may seem counterintuitive, but in this business, if we apply our skills to the buying, the selling is pretty easy.

You may think buying and selling is combat. But we don’t see it that way, and that’s one of the culture differences that Harry is picking up on. It’s a collaboration.

Let’s look at a customer selling a car…first of all we are going to offer good advice for his or her situation, and try to help them get what they want, e.g. the car sold without aggravation.

If you take a look at our Google reviews, the common thread is that we made selling a car easy. The first step is finding out the situation of the seller, is it a rush, is it just that they want the space, or our they thinning out their collection?

Then we will want to find out more about the actual car. Would it fit our criteria, the condition, maintenance, history, can it be sold honestly, safely, and by us (does it fit our profile)?

Assuming we are good so far, then we discuss the most suitable method for the customer to sell their car. Should they sell it direct to us, or via our consignment or brokerage service? Which suits them?

If it’s a straight purchase then its swift and clean. Whereas with our consignment or brokerage service you can expect a better return, simply because we do not need to carry the cost of that car as stock.

The next step is for Louise to research the background of the car and make checks. The we will get to inspect it physically in our workshop. What we are trying to protect ourselves from, is exactly the same as what you the buyer is trying to avoid.

We don’t want to sell trouble, and bearing in mind that no one car is perfect, or going to remain so, we want to understand the real condition. That way we can match expectations with the reality. It avoids disappointment and causes less trouble all round.

Unusually in this industry, most of the cars we supply will be covered by our own warranty, backed by us. Unlike the auction or private sellers, where there is no support. Should the gearbox breakdown, it’s most likely us that will be paying. (The level of warranty support varies for different cars/ ages/ values).

So ultimately, more careful we are as experts, the better the chances of buyers avoiding the same problems. We are working in the same direction as the purchaser. The result, is that your car can get sold in a nice way, an easy way…and that is something that we find many of our customers appreciate.

Training our new team members in our way of thinking is essential. The culture must continue.
