Variety in the showroom

Over the last 30 years we have had the joy of dealing with some exceptional cars and customers. Daily, we get to be involved with the stories and history behind cars from every corner of life. Naturally, most are Porsche, but a variety of special brands will often find their way to ourselves too. You may have seen a few of these in our showroom before…

This week, we decided to pick out a few individual cars that highlight this variety. Each one will have a different background, a different buyer and will have been built with different goals in mind, all of them appealing to the right person who will have their own unique reason for falling in love with their car of choice. Imagine yourself standing at the front of the showroom, what would be the first thing you walk over to?

Going bold for our first choice, the 1978 ST style 911 in Viper Green.

It started out as a 1978 SC, before going through an exceptionally high quality rebuild to transform it into a homage to the 911 ST builds of the early 70’s, whilst emphasizing drivability and on-road performance. The body panels are a key factor in the process of recreating a 911 ST, note the extended bonnet and wider rear arches, but going beyond to make this a unique build involved retaining and tuning up the original 3.0 engine that gives this car its road usability. The full build was a process of great detail and scrutiny, as Jon Miller, the man who built this 911, puts it:

“What I can say is that the cars I’ve built are done because I enjoy the journey and I enjoy trying to finish them to the best standard I can, they are not generally built to exactly replicate a particular model but created to match a vision or idea of a car I’d like to own. I am not particularly a trackday junkie so most of my cars are spec’d as road cars, suitable for longer trips as well as Sunday morning B road blasts. I had not built an ST style before, so it was one to tick off the list and one I think suits the race stickered look. Hopefully, the new owner will get as much enjoyment driving it as I did putting it together.”

This is not one that will hang around long. Special builds like these, especially with such exquisite quality put into them, are perfect for those looking for an opportunity to own a “one-of-one” Porsche.

Onto our next choice, the 2005 987 Boxster in Artic Silver Metallic.

2005 was the first year of production for the 987 and the 9th year of the Boxster’s run as whole. The objective of its design was to combine elements from Carrera GT with the distinctive Boxster styling elements, as well as making subtle but impactful updates to the Boxster platform. This example has benefitted from kind use over the last 8 years, being treated to all the required maintenance no matter how big or small. It is a treat to be able to enjoy what the Boxster has to offer, even more so with the confidence of such a strong history.

Balance is often the word used to describe the mid-engine Porsche models, particularly in reference to the handling, but the Boxster also has a reputation for its usability. Easy to drive, plenty of storage space and a variety of comfort features make it an appropriate choice for those who would be using their Porsche on a day-to-day basis, or even as a dependable toy for the weekends. There are no rules on how you must use your Porsche, and the Boxster will be happy to accompany you wherever you choose to take it.

The final choice is our wildcard, the 2006 BMW Z4 M Coupe in Imola Red.

A rare car in itself, even rarer in Imola Red. The Z4 M shares its engine with the E46 M3, alongside uprated suspension and hydraulic steering instead of the Z4’s standard electric system. The result is a classic “small car, big engine” fun factor with the bonus of rarity and various creature comforts; electric seats and Nappa leather to name a couple.

The Z4 M’s quirkiness is owed to its unique design, sharper than the Z3 M that came before it, but still distinct enough to turn heads, especially when you factor in the dual chromed stainless steel exhaust system.

To review, it is a classic recipe in a unique package that you won’t stop smiling in, one that will make you want to keep driving it for just a moment longer.

Overall, these 3 are just a taste of what our stock has to offer. There truly is something for everyone amongst our lineup, and we are always looking for more. The personal connections we have with our cars are what make the memories, and those are what we aim to match between our cars and our customers. If you are looking for something special, whether it be a specific model, specification or colour, we can help you find it. Speak to Andy or Ross to find out more about how we can help connect you with your next car, no matter what it might be.
